Color and Size:
Black & White, 14 pounds
Date Received by JCCARE:
November 2006
Foster Home:
Christina Richards
Foster Location:
Brooklyn, NY
Health:
Excellent Health
Temperament:
Ralph is friendly, sweet, and playful. He would do well with another dog or
as the only pet. He loves people, likes other dogs. Seems to like children
that he meets on walks, but we don't have any.
Background:

Additional Notes:
Ralph is not 100% housebroken - needs patience with training - owner will
need to pick him up in Brooklyn - I would also like to arrange a
pre-adoption meeting for Ralph and his new owners |

Gatsby
adopted January 2007
Name:
Gatsby
Age:
2 years old
Sex:
Male
Color and Size:
Sable, 22 pounds
Date Received by JCCARE:
August 2006
Foster Home:
Linda McNamara
Foster Location:
Vista, CA
Health:
Gatsby is a big healthy boy
Temperament:
Frisky, playful and full of energy. But, he also has quiet moments and
enjoys a good cuddle. Because he's a big boy, he's strong and plays hard. He
loves going for long walks. Anyone interested in Gatsby should think of him
as a medium sized dog rather than a demur toy dog.
Background:
Gatsby lived with a young woman who had to take a job where she could not
take him with her. Her family tried to take him in but due to allergies were
not able to. The entire family was heartbroken to have to give their baby up
but they did because it was best for him.
Additional Notes:
Gatsby needs a playmate. I would love to see him go to a family that would
train him for agility. In fact, I've already had him in classes and he is
learning quickly. |

Allie Hu
adopted January 2007
Name:
Allie Hu
Age:
4 Years
Sex:
Female
Color and Size:
Sable & White
Date Received by JCCARE:
November 2006
Foster Home:
Eric Detrick
Foster Location:
Clearwater, FL
Health:
Allie is in great health. She will need a dental cleaning in the near
future. Allie is allergic to fleas. Must ensure she is treated monthly with
Advantage or similar topical flea treatment.
Temperament:
Sweet as sugar! Allie is a real love muffin and wants ALL of your attention.
Allie likes cats, my Skunk and other dogs. Due to her need for attention, I
feel she would do best in a home with just one other dog as a playmate.
Allie was very shy and scared when she first came into rescue. I've worked
with her and provided unconditional TLC to help her regain trust in humans
again. I feel she is now ready to make the transition into her forever home.
Background:
Allie was owner surrendered because the family wished to travel and did not
want to take Allie with them. They tried re-homing her themselves and she
was soon returned because the children in the "new" home were to rough with
her.
Additional Notes:
Allie would do best in a home with children over 10 and that respect
animals. She would blossom extremely well with a retired or semi-retired
family or someone who works from home/takes her along to work.
Allie would make an outstanding therapy dog for senior citizens. She's very
patient and calm with seniors. She just likes to sit in their lap and be
loved on.
Allie is very attached to me, however she does fine with both men and woman. |

Bandit
adopted January 2007
Name:
Bandit
Age:
DOB - 1/22/06
Sex:
Male
Color and Size:
Black & White; 14 pounds (and growing)
Date Received by JCCARE:
December 2006
Foster Home:
Kathie Helmick
Foster Location:
Elgin, Illinois
Health:
Bandit is being treated for a nasty ear infection, but otherwise he is in
great health.
Temperament:
His smile says it all -- Bandit is a goofy guy who is sweet and friendly
with everyone he meets --he doesn't have a mean bone in his body. He is
great with kids and other dogs, and is fine with cats (though he loves to
chase them). Bandit would especially love to have another dog to play with
in his new home. He is still very much a puppy and needs proper supervision,
plenty of playtime, and positive training to improve his house manners. He
is mostly housebroken, but still has an occasional accident (but he is
improving as he gets settled into the potty routine at his foster home). He
does get sad when left alone, so he prefers a family where someone is home
most of the time. He enjoys going for walks and is good on a leash (but
very, very curious and into smelling everything). He also does great on car
rides.
Background:
Bandit was relinquished to JCCARE by his family because they did not have
the time to give him the proper attention a puppy needs. They purchased
Bandit from a pet store.
Additional Notes:
Bandit is ideal for a family with children and/or other dogs who would like
a playmate. His new family needs to have the patience and understanding to
work through his puppy stage.

Louie
adopted February 2007
Name:
Louie
Age:
7 years
Sex:
Male
Color and Size:
Tri Color
Date Received by JCCARE:
January 2007
Foster Home:
Eric Detrick
Foster Location:
Clearwater, FL
Health:
Louie came to us in poor condition. He had all but 4 teeth pulled. He does
have some joint issues but doesn't seem to be in any pain from this. He had
a severe puncture on his hind leg that is healing. He also suffered from
severe hot spots. These are also healing. He has one eye that is the size of
a pea. The other eye is normal. He has full vision in both eyes. This is
just a cosmetic birth defect.
Temperament:
Louie is a very quiet Chin. He has a sweet nature and can be quite comical
at times. He is food aggressive with other animals. I feel this is because
he was starved in the past and he had to fight for his food. He do best as
the only pet in the house.
Background:
Louie originally came from a puppy mill. He was re-homed a few times along
the way. He eventually made his way into rescue. Louie was in poor condition
when he first arrived to us here in FL. His coat was matted, he had feces
dried in his fur, his nails were very long and severely curved. He was
covered in fleas, ticks, hot spots and had a wound on his back leg.

adopted March 2007
Name:
Cain & Kenshin
Age:
18 months
Sex:
Male
Color and Size:
Cain, black and white (10#), Kenshin, sable and white (10#)
Date Received by JCCARE:
12/31/2006
Foster Home:
Tim Kerlin
Foster Location:
Watervliet, Michigan
Health:
Both these guys are in very good health. Cain has just finished treatment
for Demodex and is bug free. Both still need to be neutered (will be done
before adoption).
Temperament:
These are two of the most loving dogs that I have had in foster. Always
willing to give lots of hugs and kisses. Real snuggle bunnies. They are
welded at the hip, especially Cain. He loves his brother!
Background:
They were turned in due to personal problems in their household. They were
originally rescued from a BYB in Indiana. They are litter mates.
Additional Notes: I think Cain and Kenshin need to be adopted together. Cain
is very attached to his brother and he wants to be where Kenshin is. |

Gizmo
adopted April 2007
Name:
Gizmo
Age:
18 months old
Sex:
Male
Color
and Size: Black and White, 15 pounds
Date
Received by JCCARE:
July 2006
Foster Home: Zofia Luksic
Foster Location:
Santa Monica,
CA
Health:
Excellent! No issues.
Temperament:
Fantastic with kids. Can be slow to warm up to adults. Prefers women to men.
Accepts some other dogs but is growly with others. I have not figured out
how he decides which he likes and which he does not like. Does not like
cats. Gizmo is very quiet. When he does bark, it is a quiet woofing
sound.
Background:
Gizmo’s family had a baby and decided he was not getting enough attention
so they turned him over to rescue.
Additional Notes:
Gizmo is a bit of an escape artist and will need to be in a home with a very
secure fence. He loves going for walks but needs some training on how to
behave when he sees other dogs. Gizmo would do well as an only dog or
with another submissive dog (preferable female). He should be placed in a
family with kids as he truly loves children. |

Great...recovering from a slight eye injury which is healing nicely. Presently
12 lbs, but would like to see him put on a couple of pounds.

Sweet....gentle and soft...those are the best words I find to describe Mongo.
Background:
Mongo came into a local shelter as a stray...neutered, but with no id tags
or microchip. He had a left eye injury which is being treated with BNP ointment
and we expect to heal completely.
Additional Notes:
Mongo is a great boy! He is also one of the nicest Chins I've ever had to walk

Male
Color
and Size: Black & White - 15 lbs.
Date
Received by JCCARE:
March 2007
Foster Home: Sylvia Baker
Foster Location:
EHT, New Jersey
Health:
EXCELLENT, no issues at all.
Temperament:
VERY SWEET, Extremely MELLOW for a young chin and VERY ,VERY SHY. NON
AGGRESSIVE, NO GROWLS.
Background:
This sweet young healthy male was an owner turn in, due to his fear of
strangers. He is very frightened of men, especially, but also fearful when any
person other than me is in the room. He loves to play with other dogs, walks
great on a lead, but will avoid people at all lengths.
Additional Notes:
MILO will require someone with TONS and TONS of patience. He must go to someone
who will work with him and his fears and understand him. He is not a good eater
and his forever owner will need to take that into consideration. He must go to a
home with at least one other young dog, as he loves to play. A FENCED IN YARD is
required. WHOEVER ADOPTS MILO must realize that it could take a very very long
time to get him over his fears. |

His people decided to move, and cannot take him. He is adapting beautifully to

Daphne
adopted April 2007
Name:
Daphne
Age:
3 years old
Sex:
Female
Color and Size:
Lemon & White
Date Received by JCCARE:
15 November 2006
Foster Home:
Nancy Mellott
Foster Location:
Texas
Health:
Daphne is a healthy girl but at this
time has some skin problems due to flea allergies. This should be controllable
with flea preventatives.
Temperament:
Daphne has a very nice temperament although she is food aggressive toward other
dogs. She does not want to share her food!
Background:
Daphne
had been used for breeding and had several c-sections before she was spayed.
Additional Notes:
Daphne is not yet housebroken.
UPDATE! 3/11/07:
Foster mom comments:
Daphne has learned to trust people! She just loves to be held. I believe she
had never felt the ground under her feet before she came home with me, we
are continuing to work on housebreaking but it is a good thing they make
diapers for doggies so we use them a lot. She is a very pretty girl and
weighs about 9 lbs. and at that weight is a little pudgy. She still does not
like to share her food and does not like the other girl dogs at my house as
well as the boys, I think she would be good in a home with boys or by
herself. She loves going outside now!!!!! Her first few trips outside she
simply stood perfectly still, totally amazed. She loves the sun!

Rocky
Age:

Sex:
Male
Color
and Size: Black and White, 12+ pounds
Date
Received by JCCARE:
August 2006
Foster Home: Carolle Cox
Foster Location:
Flower Mound, TX
Health:
Looks good! Rocky has a history of 'gastritis' that may stem from a run-in with
an exterminator's chemicals a few years ago.
Temperament:
Cuddly, friendly, will follow people through the house.
Background:
Rocky lived his whole life with a loving human 'mom' and a Pomeranian
'sibling. Mom fell on hard times and had to move back in with family. Rocky
objected to the children in the house, and mom was forced to give him up.
Additional Notes:
Rocky is NOT trained for
crates or close confinement of any kind. He will hurt himself trying to get to
people. I will not ship Rocky - it's just too hot here to risk it. |

Percy
adopted May 2007
Name:
Percy
Age:
18 months
Sex:
Male
Color
and Size: Black & White - 10 lbs.
Date
Received by JCCARE:
March 5, 2007
Foster Home: Tammy
Foster Location:
Sterling Heights,
Michigan
Health:
Excellent. No issues.
Temperament:
This little boy is not a lap
dog (he's 100% puppy) and is starting to show signs of affection. He loves to
play with all of us, whether it's wrestling or chasing or with toys. He can be
high energy at times, but will sleep at my feet and follow me around the house.
We are enjoying the entertainment that he does with all his silly antics. He's a
very friendly dog and is always eager to meet new people. He enjoys going on a
daily 2 mile walk with our Cavalier dog and myself and walks well on a leash
(doesn't pull). He can become scared when passing by kids who are playing
basketball and large dogs that are also on a walk. He gets along well with other
dogs his size and smaller that like to play. I'm not sure about whether he would
get along with cats since we don't have one. He does enjoy being brushed and
with his thick and fine coat it would be best if he was brushed twice maybe
three times a week to keep it from getting matted. He just loves to have his
belly rubbed and does very well on car rides.
Background:
He's one of four Chins that
were rescued from a puppy mill in Iowa.
Additional Notes:
I'm still working with him on housetraining and he's coming along fine, but not
100% yet. I feel he needs a family where someone is at home during the day (like
me) that can continue to work with him on housetraining and take him for walks.
He does enjoy children and would do best with dog friendly children 8 years and
older. He will need a secure fenced-in yard since he loves to run. He's
neutered, crate trained and up to date on all his shots, including rabies
vaccination and worming.

Name:
Milo
Age:
3 years
Sex:
Male
Color
and Size: Black and White, under 10 pounds
Date
Received by JCCARE:
May 2007
Foster Home: Erik Detrick
Foster Location:
Clearwater, FL
Health:
Milo is in excellent health. Milo is a dainty Chin
and is very cat-like.
Temperament:
Milo is a real sweet Chin that just wants to sit on your lap and be loved. He
does have some food aggression issues with other dogs. Other then that he loves
everyone and everything.
Background:
Milo was rescued from a Tampa Pet Shop when he was 9 months old. He had
been there since he was 8 weeks old. The family that rescued him foster Poms and
they felt he was not getting the attention that he needs. They felt he was very
depressed with having to share their love. No doubt that this awesome little
Chin was loved unconditionally by his previous family. He is great with kids,
men, and women as well as other dogs. No idea if he likes cats.
Additional Notes:
Milo is doing great in our home and
loves being part of a Chin pack! He plays, chases, climbs, and woo-woo's with
them all. He is especially fond of one of my English Toy Spaniels. He follows
her around with the look of "love" in his eyes. He loves the ladies!
Milo walks well on a leash and enjoys long walks.
He is 110% housetrained and knows some basic commands. Milo just wants to be
loved and to have a person to call his very own. Could you be the one? Milo is a
catch. He is a 5 star guest here at the Chin Inn and perhaps the best male I've
had in foster care.

Foster Home: Dana Baldinger
Foster Location:
Renton, WA
Health:
Excellent health! Currently getting puppy shots and will be altered in a week or
so.
Temperament:
typical puppy: I am energetic, happy, inquisitive, affectionate on my terms,
very very clever also!
Background:
My brother Bud and I are very happy, healthy kids with no baggage! We were
rescued by a lovely lady who knew our situation wasnt good. She called JCCARE
and now here we are, ready to find YOU! We will be altered soon and then ready
to come home forever! We promise to make you laugh, make you smile and make you
re-think your container plant arrangements.
Additional Notes:
First priority will be given to
families in the Pacific Northwest who wish to adopt my brother and I together.
We will also need a fully-fenced yard. Other chin or small dog friends to play
with would be great, but remember we are not going to be dainty Chin- so a 2 lb
Chihuahua might not be the best playmate. |

Health:
Excellent! Just getting puppy shots and
will be altered in a week or so. No issues.
Temperament:
typical puppy: I am energetic, happy, inquisitive, affectionate on my terms,

AFFECTIONATE! Like a true boy
Chin puppy, Bud loves to snuggle up and give lots of kisses. He sleeps with his
little face right next to mine all night- awwww! He is funny, clever and loves
to play, but he does depend a lot on his sister Rose to try new things first. He
is the 'gooey' one, she's the go-getter and together they are a great team.
Additional Notes:
First priority will be given to
families in the Pacific Northwest who will adopt us together. We require a fully
fenced yard and no children under 5 years please. We love to play and would
enjoy other dogs as playmates, but we have not been tested with cats. At our

Yoko Ono
adopted June 2007
Name:
Yoko Ono
Age:
1.5 years
Sex:
Female
Color
and Size: Black and White 18 pounds
Date
Received by JCCARE:
April, 2007
Foster Home: Eric Detrick
Foster Location:
Clearwater, FL
Health:
Yoko Ono is in good health. She was very well cared
for by her owner. They fed her holistic/natural dog food, supplements for her
coat, etc. She is a beauty!
Although she is a little on the tall side, she is perfectly height/weight proportionate.
Temperament:
Yoko Ono has a delightful personality. She is very intelligent and knows all of
her basic obedience commands. As soon as she sees me going for the treat jar,
she sits like a perfect young lady. Yoko Ono is high energy and will require an
owner who has the skill to establish with her right away that they are the pack
leader. She is fine with children, adults, and dogs. She does enjoy
chasing cats but will not harm them. She needs to be placed in a home that
has another Chin for her to bond with. She took to my pack immediately and
really thrives in this type of household.
Background:
Yoko Ono was brought to me by her owner who could no longer keep her. They
spent a lot of time with her and it shows. She enjoys being groomed and delights
in cuddling up on the sofa beside you. If you are looking for a loyal,
well trained companion, she is your Chin. She likes toys and will play for
hours. She really loves squeaky toys. Yoko is an early riser. She likes to go
out in the morning by 6a.m. Great little buddy for a morning stroll around
the neighborhood.
Additional Notes:
Yoko weighs in at 18 pounds and is 16 inches high at the shoulder and 21 inches
long. PLEASE measure this out to see how truly big she is. I do not want any
surprises when you come to meet this fantastic Chin that just happens to be
super sized. Yoko Ono would be an awesome dog for someone who loves the look and
grace of the Chin, but wants a medium sized dog. It is hard to find a dog that
is truly medium in size. Yoko Ono fits the bill. She would love a home with a
family that enjoys the outdoors. She would live outside if I would let her.
We will only place her in a family
with previous dog experience. She will thrive in a home with at least one other
dog, preferably a Chin as a companion. |

Warlock
adopted July 2007
Name:
Warlock
Age:
3 years
Sex:
Male
Color
and Size: Black & White / 12 pounds
Date
Received by JCCARE:
March 2007
Foster Home: Carolle
Foster Location:
Flower Mound, Texas
Health:
Warlock is in great shape. He has some minor ear
issues, but they're clearing up. He may need medication in his ears for awhile,
since his original owner also battled this "problem".
Temperament:
I really don't know how he
got the name "Warlock", because he's anything but warlike! He's gentle and
playful. He loves attention and is a real clown, but does not like large male
dogs. He doesn't understand cats, but is not aggressive towards them. Not yet
tested with children. He prefers women to men, but is not all that picky.
Background:
Warlock was the beloved pet
of a lady who fell on hard times. Sadly, she surrendered Warlock so he could
continue to get the care she felt he needs. He was spoiled, well cared for, and
as a result is a real rescue catch! He knows some commands, and is entirely
house trained, getting just a bit loud if he doesn't get outdoor access to potty
when he needs it.
Additional Notes:
Please don't offer to adopt this
little guy if you share your home with large male dogs. He doesn't know he's 1/5
their size, and will take them all on! |

Temperament:
Very Sweet & Loving & playful. Wants to be with the family all the time. Loves

Background:
Crockett comes from a family
in Alabama that had to be relocated and could not bring him along. He is in very
good health, however he did have an ear infection before I picked him up - It is
all better now. He is very sweet and loving and more playful that any other Chin
I've met before. He loves running with the other Chin and kids in my house. He
also loves to talk (woooo). He is housebroken. Basically he is the total Chin
package.
Additional Notes:
Crockett loves to play and can get
a little carried away. Because he is a little larger than most Chin, this could
be an issue for someone with small Chins in the house. He is very sweet though
and does not have a mean bone in his body.

Prana
adopted July 2007
Name:
Prana
Age:
4-5 years
Sex:
Male
Color
and Size: Black/White, 13 pounds
Date
Received by JCCARE:
mid-June 2007
Foster Home: Nancy Walton
Foster Location:
Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Health:
Excellent . . . originally he had an ear infection
and kennel cough but has finished his medications and is now quite healthy.
Prana has had his rabies and distemper shot, is neutered and heartworm negative.
Temperament:
Happy, playful, energetic and very affectionate. There are other dogs and cats in
his foster home and he enjoys playing with and grooming them. He looks a bit
serious in his photos but is smiling all of the time with his tail wagging while
giving kisses.
Background:
We were told his original owner had to surrender him and two other dogs to
a humane society when she lost her home.
Additional Notes:
Prana is now housebroken. If necessary, he doesn't mind being crated. He's a
very pleasant and happy little guy who loves to be around people. |

Gizmo
adopted July 2007
Name:
Gizmo
Age:
5 years
Sex:
Male
Color
and Size: Lemon and white - 13 lbs
Date
Received by JCCARE:
March 10, 2007
Foster Home: Kristin Cohan
Foster Location:
Grafton, MA
Health:
Excellent. Just had a physical exam and a dental.
He lost 7 teeth but it hasn't affected him one bit.
Temperament:
Playful, agreeable, cuddly.
Likes to be held like a baby. Typical chin personality
Background:
Previous JCCare rescue
adopted 3 years ago. Turned back in to JCCare as owner became pregnant, could no
longer give him the attention he needed, and no longer had the time to work on
his housebreaking issues. Gizzie arrived as a nervous "marker" and lifts his leg
in the house, but he is making some progress and is happy wearing a belly band.
He would do best where someone is home all day to help him continue with his
housebreaking. Plus, he would enjoy sitting on a lap all day!
Additional Notes:
Gizzie is a very sweet boy who has
no health issues. He would probably make a good therapy dog or a lap dog for a
retired person. He lived with a five year old, is good with children, loves
other dogs (especially other Chin), is good with cats as long as they don't run!

Sorano
adopted July 2007
Name:
Sorano
Age:
9 years
Sex:
Female
Color
and Size: 15 lbs, black and white
Date
Received by JCCARE:
5-16-2007
Foster Home: JoLynn Archer
Foster Location:
Wimberly, TX
Health:
Other than being older, this little girl seems very healthy.
She had a mammary tumor removed that turned out to be benign.
Temperament:
Peaceful. The only thing she really wants is a loving lap to sit in. Sorano is
not completely house-trained, and is unable to walk on a leash. Otherwise, she a
terrible little cuddle-bug who takes over entire laps!
Background:
Sorano was rescued from a
puppy mill, and came to JCCARE with three other Chin. She does well at the Vet
or groomer and with other Chin.
Additional Notes:
Sorano needs a patient family to
help her learn inside manners and good leash behavior. She will repay you in
cuddles!

Miss Daisy
adopted July 2007
Name:
Miss Daisy
Age:
7 years, 3 months
Sex:
Female
Color
and Size: Black & White / 11 pounds
Date
Received by JCCARE:
June 2007
Foster Home: Zofia
Foster Location:
Santa Monica, California
Health:
Great! Visited the vet last nite and aside from a little ear cleaning, she got a
clean bill of health. Heart and lungs sounded good, knees nice and tight, eyes
bright. Even her teeth looked pretty good but she will probably need a teeth
cleaning in the next year. She has a bit of a wry mouth, so her tongue is out to
some extent most of the time. She doesn't understand the concept of kibble (or
maybe she just doesn't like it!), but she eats her loaf with no problem and
loves her various treats. She could maybe lose a lb., but no more than that. |
