Poppi and Peanut adopted January 2005
Names: Poppi and Peanut Peanut is a little more reserved then Poppi. She does warm up to you pretty quickly. Peanut likes to get up on the furniture so she can see outdoors. Her one tooth shows all the time. You can see it in her pictures. She is very sweet. She will no doubt gain some more weight. She has gained about 1/2 lb since coming to me. Additional notes: Poppi and Peanut must to be kept together. They play together and sleep together. The day Poppi was at the vets being neutered, Peanut looked for him all day. |

Babee adopted February 2005
Name: Babee Additional notes: Babee would dearly love to be an only dog, no kids....someone retired who will take her everywhere and continue to spoil her would be ideal. Babee is a lap dog who loves to go for car rides, but don't expect much from her on a leash.....yikes, she does not know the meaning of the word "work"! Once comfortable with her new person, she will be a total love bug!

Kamikazi adopted February 2005
Name: Kamikaze
Black and White, 10 pounds
23 December, 2004 Kami has a grade 5 heart murmur. He is
just over a staph infection of his skin.
He takes no medication, and runs around
happily with the other Chin here.
Background: Kami was a beloved pet to a single lady
for most of his life. She recently
married and her husband is very
allergic to Kami's hair, so she reluctantly
sent Kami to JCCare.
Gentle, quiet, and loving. Kami barks at
strangers outside, but demands
kisses when the same person comes
into the house! He sleeps near our bed
at night, and is happy to be carried
around and otherwise spoiled to bits.
Additional notes: Kami needs to be in a home with other
small dogs to play with (naturally,
Chin are preferred) and absolutely
No cats! He is good around older
children, but nervous around
youngsters.

Barlow adopted March 2005
Name:
Barlow
Black and White, 10 pounds
30
January, 2005 Excellent! No known problems. Background: Barlow was turned in by his owners because they didn't know that Japanese Chin shed.
Barlow is a happy, enthusiastic puppy. He is a HIGH ENERGY dog. He is in constant motion. Wants to play, play, play. Not an aggressive bone in his body. He is a good boy - very loving, but not one for cuddling and sitting on laps. He does like to give kisses. Barlow knows how to use a dog door and is house trained. He happily lets himself in and out all day.
Additional notes: Barlow needs to have a play mate and a yard. He plays with toys and with people but mostly likes to wrestle and play chase with my other dogs. He should also go to a home who will take him for some basic training. Barlow would be an awesome agility dog for anyone interested in the sport. |

Buddy adopted February 2005
Name:
Buddy Additional notes: Because of his blindness, Buddy needs a home where this is little change in his environment. Though he bumps into things when exploring, it doesn't stop him. He's learned what is a good speed for him and he goes for it. It's incredible what a good memory he has once he has learned the layout. |

Meeko and Winnie adopted March 2005
Name: Meeko and Winnie Meeko-In good health. He has a grade 5 heart murmur. No problems noted with it though. He is a very active boy. Winnie-In great shape. Background: Meeko and Winnie were previous adoptees from JCCARE and was turned back into us. Temperament: Meeko-He is just the most lovely boy. He plays and runs around with all the other Chins but still prefers his daughter, Winnie. He likes his attention and never wanders very far from either my wife or me. He gives a lot of kisses and likes to be scritched! A big boy but wonderful! Winnie-Just the most wonderful girl! A true lap dog! She loves to lay on Karen's lap and just snooze and she gives lots and lots of kisses! She just wants to be loved and return it! She is not a full Chin. She is half terrier. And she has a severe underbite that only makes her more endearing! Additional notes: Must be adopted together. These two are inseparable. They play and sleep together all the time. They are real joys. Just lovely little Chins! |

Tahzu adopted March 2005
Name: Tahzu Health: Tahzu is generally very healthy. His biggest health issue is a flea allergy. It will be very important for him to be on a flea preventative at all times. He also has a heart murmur (grade 3). He is not on any medication for this and does not show symptoms. He is a little underweight right now but will fill out with time. Background: Tahzu was turned into rescue because of his flea allergy. When I got him, he had a fairly bad flea infestation. He had scratched much of his fur off and had scratched and bit sores into his skin. His family turned him in to us because they could not afford to take him to the vet and they knew he needed help getting better. Temperament: Tahzu is a cuddler! That's not something we see a lot in Chins. He wants to be beside a person or on a person's lap at all times. He also cuddles in bed. He likes to sleep under the covers, cuddled up to my chest. Tahzu is also a big talker. He will let you know when he wants love, is hungry, wants to go out... He also had spirts of high energy playfulness. He likes to play with my other dogs and with me. He does play a little rough so I don't think he would be good in a home with young children. Additional notes: What little coat Tahzu had left was shaved when he came to my house so I could get medicine onto his skin. It is growing back and should grow in to be a nice full coat. Currently, he wears a sweatshirt to help stay warm. He is housetrained and will ask to go out. He does not know how to use a dog door. Tahzu should go to a home with another small dog for a playmate. He has no fear of large dogs but also doesn't seem interested in playing with them. |

Fuji adopted April 2005
Name: Fuji Great...no issues at all. Heart, lungs, patellas, ears, eyes all clear and sound. Fuji has the start of tartar buildup, but it is not urgent. Fuji is a solid boy and could maybe lose a pound or so, but with good food and exercise, that will probably happen naturally. Background: Fuji was turned in by owners because they felt their lifestyle was too busy and he was not getting the attention he craves. He was originally purchased from a pet store, then rehomed 2 yrs. later when his diabetic owner could not handle his care. He had bladder stone surgery 2 yrs. ago with no recurrences. He has been well taken care and loved and it shows. He has a very lovely face with the blackest eyes I've ever seen! Temperament: Very sweet, affectionate, quiet. Fuji will follow you from room to room, curl up next to you. He will tap you with his paw if you stop petting him too soon. I'm still testing him with bigger dogs, particularly males, as his former owner said he has a problem with them. So far, I haven't seen anything out of the ordinary. Fuji hasn't played with any of the other critters yet, but he has shown some interest. He is fine with cats...wants to eat their food! |

Papi adopted May 2005
Name: Papi Very good. All vaccinations up to date. Might have been debarked. The only sounds he makes are a whimper or a minor growl. Temperament: Housebroken and lead-trained. Athletic, can jump high (might be a good dog for agility). Catches on quick and tries to do anything you tell him. Very alert and attentive. Loving and affectionate. Is male-dog aggressive where food or toys are concerned. Additional notes: Needs to be only dog; needs all the attention.

Muppet adopted May 2005
Name:
Muppet Additional notes: Prefer a home with few or no stairs and MUST have a securely fenced yard. Would like to place him where someone is home most of the time and is willing to take him for obedience training. Muppet is very smart and needs mental stimulation as well as opportunities to expend his energy and satisfy his curiosity. It is a very inspiring and educational experience to live with a blind dog and observe how they adapt. Cannot ship in the cargo section so prospective adopters should be willing to fly or drive all or part way to claim Muppet. |
Shep Vincent Click the pictures |
Shep and Vincent adopted May 2005
Name: Shep and Vincent
Shep weighs 10 lbs, Vincent weighs 13-14 lbs Has petit mal seziures, but is controlled
with med. Extremely sweet and friendly.
Gives tons of frantic chin kisses, sleeps
in the bed, and wants only to cuddle or follow
you from room to room. He is a growly talker.
Ok with cats, and my dogs. I was told he
was ok with kids, but I can't vouch for that.
He is housebroken.
Vincent: No health problem. Has bug eyes, and missing a few bottom teeth, but he is extremely sweet, hasn't had one accident since I have had him. He is a little shy, and reserved until he feels comfortable, then he wants to be petted. If you stop petting him too soon, he will nudge you with his front paws repeatedly. Additional notes: Shep and Vincent must be kept together as a pair since they were raised together. If one isn't in the room, the other goes looking for him.

Carson adopted May 2005
Name: Carson Excellent, just had vet check, clean bill of health!
Background: Was abandoned in the streets of WV, then
put in shelter and rescued by Peke Rescue.
A Chin rescuer noticed him, as not Peke,
rather Chin, and rescued him to become fostered until we find his forever home.
Temperament: Affectionate, cautious at first, once he
knows you're "safe", won't let you out of his
sight! He "talks" a lot...wants you to hear his
whole life story. Despite his size, he longs to be a lap dog!
Additional notes: Does very well with other dogs, submits
to them as dominant over him. More
cautious with new people, however when
left alone to explore a bit, quickly connects and seeks affection, and becomes attached to his masters.

Sari adopted May 2005
Name: Sari Excellent...everything sound and clear.
Her eyes have a tendency to be weepy,
so her eye folds need to be wiped every few days. Background: Sari came into a local shelter as a stray,
stayed her allotted time and then
came home with me. She appears to
have been well cared for, but she has been
bred and possibly not that long ago. Temperament: Sweet, quiet, loving. Additional notes: Good with other dogs and cats.
The picture of her is from the shelter. She has
since been groomed and cleaned up nicely |

Fuji adopted July 2005
Name:
Fuji Excellent - no known problems.
Background:
Fuji was adopted from an animal shelter. We know nothing of his life before that. He stayed with his adoptive family for just a few months until his 'daddy' developed a catastrophic illness. His family felt it would be better to give him to someone who could spend lots of time with him. He was returned to the same shelter, and they requested that we find him that special home.
Temperament: Fuji is a cuddle-chin. He wants to be on your lap, in your bed, sleeping quietly at your feet. He's been an only furchild, but is adjusting well to my pack-o-chin. Additional notes:
Fuji is a little bit timid at first, and will run from loud noises. I will not ship a Chin. Please make other arrangements for him to travel to your home. |
Cody adopted July 2005
Name:
Cody
Excellent.
Background: This beautiful boy was kept outdoors for most of his life.
He was dirty, matted, and desperate for love when we
picked him up. He's been shaven right down to almost
his skin to get out huge mats and clean him up. He was
not housebroken when turned in to rescue but he is
learning and improving every day. Temperament: All boy. He's a real lap Chin, hates being left home alone, and prefers snuggling to anything else but supper. Climbs fences like they're not there!

Trooper adopted August 2005
Name:
Trooper
good - but has what appears to be a birth injury,
right rear leg - doesn't use it much, but appears to
have no pain with it at all, and gets around fine -
just doesn't get as far as fast as the others here ;-).
Background: Part of a "kennel surrender", is crate trained but will need some work for housebreaking.
Temperament: Friendly and affectionate - typical of the breed, is
cautious on 1st meeting new people, but is not
backwards (and he thinks he's very cute).
Additional notes: Not doing any lead work, due to the leg, (which qualifies him as "special needs" p |
