Eli
adopted January 2004

Hi! I'm Eli. I am 10 months old and already 13 pounds! My foster mommy says I have huge feet and she thinks I'm going to be a big boy. I've already been neutered. I'm looking for a perfect home where I can have a perfect life. My life's been kind of tough so far - here's my story -

I was born in a puppy mill. The mill owner wanted to use me for breeding but I got this really itchy skin problem called Demodex so she decided to sell me - - to another puppy mill owner! Well, that owner didn't wanted to deal with my demodex either so they sold me to someone else. Luckily a wonderful lady rescued me from there and brought me to my foster mommy and JCCARE. Now I am being treated for my demodex and I'm not itchy anymore. I am responding really well to treatment and soon I will be cured and ready for a new home (probably around the first of February).

My foster mommy and I have discussed it and here is the kind of home I need - - I MUST have a playmate. I LOVE to play. My foster mommy has promised she won't make me go to a home that doesn't have at least one other dog (of course, I prefer another chin - - we stick together). Also, my new family must be very understanding and patient as I am still a puppy and that means I am pretty wild sometimes. I like to get into things if they are left out and I need some help learning to be completely potty trained. I LOVE to get attention and to play, play, play. Then, after I play a lot, I crash and sleep for a long time. I've been in a lot of homes in my short 10 months so I need the perfect home now so I don't ever have to go anywhere else. I love to run so much. Ideally, my new home will have a fenced in back yard so I can play and run without a leash.

Other than my demodex, I am a healthy guy. And my demodex is almost completely gone.

Tiny
adopted
January 2004

Name: Tiny
Age: 5 1/2 Years
Sex: neutered male
Color and Size: tan and white approx. 14 pounds
Date Received by JCCARE: 7-18-2003
Foster Home: Valerie Connot
Contact email: connot@comcast.net
Foster Phone: 215-808-0711
Foster Location: North Wales, PA

Health: Tiny has a clean bill of health. He has a cataract in one eye due to a puncture wound in the eye a long time ago. It doesn't impact him in any way.

Background: Picked up from a shelter. Tiny didn't seem to know how to play when he came here and seemed depressed. He has learned to play and can be found chasing his tail. He now likes to explore the back yard.

Temperament: Quiet

Additional notes: Tiny would prefer a quiet home, maybe one other companion. He doesn't interact much with the other Chin here. He has an special affinity for men, but loves everyone

Charlie
adopted February 2004

Charlie came to JCCARE from the Animal Shelter in Tom Green County Texas. He is about 5-6 years old, weighs about 16 lbs., and is a healthy, happy boy!! According to the vet, he probably lost his eyes very early in life, most likely because he had infections or possibly glaucoma. She didn’t believe it was from trauma as there is no evidence of it on his face. Charlie shows no signs of having been abused. He is very self-confident! He trots around my backyard at a fairly fast clip with his head up and a smile on his face. Within a few hours of being at my house, he found the food, the water bowl (in all the locations around my house) and discovered the doggy door. He never had an accident in the house and using the doggy door like a champ. He climbs stairs and, in what is truly a leap of faith, jumps off on and off the bed. He gets along with all dogs and would probably get along with cats who are dog friendly. He walks on leash like a champ. He loves kids and never met a stranger. His only fault is that he likes to bark in the yard. At my house, he “talks” to the golden retrievers next door a couple of times a day. He rides well in a car, but doesn’t like to be crated for very long so he can’t be shipped, only carried under a seat.

Charlie needs very little: food, a comfy bed, and companionship. A perfect home for him would have lots of time with his human and access to the outside. I think he would do well as a therapy dog, visiting nursing homes and hospitals since he is very calm and loving.

Meeko and Winnie
adopted February 2004

Meeko and Winnie are father and daughter. Meeko is seven years old and Winnie is five. They are great with children of all ages, other dogs and want to play with the cats. They are both over twelve pounds. They love to play, especially together, and CANNOT BE SEPARATED. While Winnie looks nothing like a Chin, she is very Chin-like in personality, she climbs, and cuddles, her worst feature is that she won't let you stop petting her!

March 2004

Color and Size: Black & White, approx. 10 lbs
Date Received by JCCARE: January 19, 2004
Foster Home: Toni Webb
Foster Location: Atlanta, GA

Health: Very good.

Grace
adopted March 2004

Name: Grace
Age: 5 Years
Sex: Female
Color and Size: Black & White, approx. 11 lbs

Date Received by JCCARE: February 13, 2004
Foster Home: Tracey Krepel
Foster Location: DeKalb, IL

Health: Currently being treated for an urinary tract infection and ear infection. Also still has baby teeth that will need to be removed. Bloodwork was OK.

Background: Grace was part of a puppymill raid in Illinois where more than 200 were confiscated due to severe neglect. She has spent her entire life in a cage, sleeping in her own waste, and has probably whelped litter after litter of puppies.

Temperament: Sweet and outgoing, but can get "grumbly" when being picked up.

Additional notes: Despite her horrific past, Grace is a sweet and loving girl. She can be a bit "bossy" and will let you know if she doesn't like being handled a certain way. Grace will require an adoptive family that is patient and understanding of her special needs. She is not housebroken and will need extra time to learn how to use puppypads indoors and potty outdoors. Due to her past and size, Grace is not suitable for a home with young children or overly-active animals. She does not seem to like other dogs, but adores her "sister," Daphne (they would LOVE to be adopted together).

Daphne
adopted March 2004

Name: Daphne
Age: 4-5 Years
Sex: Female
Color and Size: Black & White, approx. 8 lbs
Date Received by JCCARE: February 13, 2004
Foster Home: Tracey Krepel
Foster Location: DeKalb, IL

Health: Currently being treated for an urinary tract infection and ear infection. Bloodwork was OK.

Background: Daphne was part of an Illinois puppymill raid, where more than 200 dogs were confiscated due to severe neglect. Daphne has spent her entire life confined in a cage, where she slept in her own waste, and probably has whelped litter after litter of puppies.

Temperament: Extremely sweet, happy and easy-going. Daphne is an absolute love!

Additional notes: Although Daphne's personality was not affected by her past, she will require a patient family who understands her special needs. She is not housebroken, but is learning to use puppypads and does go potty outside. She will require extra time to become acclimated to life in a home, but each day brings new surprises in her progress. Due to her size and past, Daphne is not suitable for a home with young children or overly-active animals. She does well with her "sister," Grace, and they would love to be adopted together.

Tommy BEFORE

Tommy AFTER

TOMMY
adopted May 2004

TOMMY is being fostered in So. California. Tommy is just over 2 yrs. old and darling! He is a big Chin at 17 1/2 lbs, but it is all love, love, love. Tommy gives great kisses and likes to snuggle. These are before and after pictures. Tommy is all healed from having his eye removed and it doesn't stop him in the least! I can't say enough about how wonderful this boy is! LOL, can you say FUN!!! He will make a great family pet....not too small for little kids, okay with cats, never met a stranger. He LOVES running in a yard and would do well with a bigger canine companion who will play with him. Tommy is a gem just waiting to find his forever home.

Joey and Bella
adopted May 2004

Name: Joey and Bella
Age: 1 1/2 yrs
Sex: Brother and Sister
Color and Size: See below
Date Received by JCCARE: 9/1/03
Foster Home: Linda Sims
Foster Location: Fresno, CA

Health: Over all health is good. Neither are on medications.

Background: Joey and his sister Bella are being fostered in Fresno, CA. They where abandoned in a major pet store and were turned over to JCCARE in August of last year. The vet estimated their age at around 1 year. They had rickets, were emaciated and both had genetically deformed back legs. Bella had a bladder infection and Joey had a skin infection. Joeys skin yeast problem was treated over a period of months and finally seems to be gone, but could return and need further treatment. After they gained some weight and their other medical problems were treated, they had leg surgery in April. One of Joey's back legs was amputated and since he never had use of it, the surgery has not slowed him down at all. One of Bella's back legs was repaired and she is now learning to use it. Joey and Bella are both very loving and are happy just sleeping in your lap. Bella is b/w and weights around 6 lbs. Joey is a sable lemon and is around 7 lbs. They both could stand to gain some weight. They sleep in bed with me at night. Joey likes to get under the covers.

Temperament:  Very loving with their person but shy of new people.

Additional notes: Joey and Bella prefer to play with each other and not my other chin. Bella tends to get a little jealous of other females. They would do best as only animals or perhaps one other male pet. They MUST be placed together . They get upset when they do not know where the other one is.

Name: Cupid

Teddy
adopted May 2004

Name: Teddy
Age: 3 years
Sex: Male
Color and Size: Black & White 13 lbs
Date Received by JCCARE: May 2004
Foster Home: Tracey Krepel
Contact email: tkrepel@niu.edu
Foster Location: DeKalb, IL (Northern Illinois)

Health: Excellent. Will be due for a dental cleaning within the next year.

Background: Teddy was loved since puppyhood by a single woman and her daughter. They tearfully relinquished ownership of Teddy as he did not adjust well to their new home after his owner got married. Unfortunately, the new husband is not a "dog person," and Teddy did not do well with him. He also did not do well with their new baby.

Temperament:  Excellent. Teddy is a well-adjusted happy Chin with no behavioral issues.

Additional notes: Other than a home without young children, Teddy will fit in with just about any family (though, he is better suited for a more active home). However, Teddy did seem to take special interest in a couple of 8 year-old boys who met him at the vet's office, so he would be fine with older kids who are familiar with dogs and handling them appropriately. His previous owner kept him in doggie daycare while she was at work, so he gets along well with other dogs and enjoys their companionship. A home with another Chin or doggie friend would be ideal. Teddy also is fine with cats, but will harass them a bit out of curiosity. Teddy is housebroken and crate-trained. He is very playful and also makes a wonderful lap dog.

Foster Location: The Colony, TX

Health: good, grade 3 heart murmur, but it is not affecting him

Background: Jubei was owned by a single girl. When she got married Jubei began biting the step children.

Temperament: needs experienced owner. Has a bite history when made to do something he doesn't want to do (nails trimmed, get up and go outside, etc.), but once he respects you he is a total love bug and lap dog. He likes to sleep under the covers, cuddle on the couch and go on walks.

Additional notes: Jubei needs a home with no children and an owner who is not afraid to discipline aggressive behavior.

Elvis
adopted
January 2004

Name: Elvis
Age: 5-6 Years
Sex: neutered male

KOKO

adopted May 2004

Name: Koko
Age: 9 Years
Sex: Male
Color and Size: Black & White, approx. 10 lbs
Date Received by JCCARE: February 24, 2004
Foster Home: Carole Allan
Contact email: tildarocks@aol.com
Foster Location: Winter Haven, FL

Health: Very good, Koko has no problems other than slightly overweight.

Background: Koko was owned his whole life by an elderly couple who passed away within a couple of months of each other. He was left alone in his house for 37 days with no contact, either human or animal, besides a daily feeding. Although he is a complete love sponge after a while, he retains a very nervous attitude on first acquaintance probably from this experience. Koko is confused right now, but he has the makings of a wonderful companion for the right family.

Temperament: Koko is nervous on first meeting, he takes a few hours to get relaxed on the first visit and then turns on the charm. He will need a special family to allow him the time and space he needs to feel secure before they ask him for anything.

Additional notes: No placement with children (due to his fear issues) and Koko needs an owner who will be home most of the day.

Wendy
adopted May 2004

Name: Wendy
Age: 7-9 years
Sex: Female
Color and Size: Black & White 10 lbs
Date Received by JCCARE: January 2004
Foster Home: Amanda Hampton Norton
Contact email: amandahamptonnorton@hotmail.com
Foster Phone: not available
Foster Location: Atlanta, GA

Health: Wendy has signs of Progressive Retinal Atrophy.  PRA is a degenerative disease with no known cure that eventually causes blindness.  Dogs with blindness from PRA do incredibly well.  Wendy has no evidence of blindness at this time but there is no idea of knowing when, if ever, she will be blind.  Because of this Wendy needs a family who is fairly stable - no frequent home moves, no moving furniture on a monthly basis, etc - in case she does go completely blind one day.  Wendy also has dry eye disease that will require eye drops twice daily.  The drops are approximately $1 a day though your vet may have another option that is less expensive.  She tolerates her drops well.

Background: Wendy was raised in a home with 70+ other dogs and as a result was not able to get all the love and attention she wanted.  That's left her with LOTS of catching up to do.  Wendy just wants a family who will sit in the yard with her while she plays and a will kiss and hug her every opportunity they get.  She would greatly prefer a family who has a member home all day but it's not a requirement.  Wendy does not like other dogs to get her love and attention (other food and toys) and will attack them which is why she must be an only dog.  She seems to do perfectly fine in casual settings with other dogs (at the park, when other dogs visit, etc) she just doesn't want another dog in her home all the time.

Temperament:  Wendy's needs are simple - she MUST have a fenced yard (NO EXCEPTIONS), she MUST be the ONLY dog (cats are fine) with no plans of getting another dog in the future and she MUST have a family who can shower her with lots of love and affection!
Wendy loves to run and play in the yard which is why she must have a fenced yard.  She is learning to walk on a leash but will never be able to run as much as she likes with a leash.  Wendy plays so much that she's been able to go from 14 pounds to 10 pounds in three short months, a much needed loss.

Additional notes: Wendy is being fostered in Atlanta and I will not ship her so you will need to either live in the Atlanta area or be able to travel to Atlanta.

You must meet these requirements: fenced yard, NO OTHER DOGS, able to provide Wendy's eye drops daily & understand that Wendy may one day be a special needs dog,  live in Atlanta or willing to travel to pick up Wendy

BEAR

adopted May 2004

Name: Bear
Age: 4-4.5 years
Sex: Neutered Male
Color and Size: 13.7 lbs/ sable
Date Received by JCCARE: May 14, 04. Bear is one of the CA 15
Foster Home: Dana Baldinger
Contact email: superula@comcast.net
Foster Phone: email first for Bear, please
Foster Location: Renton, WA

Health: EXCELLENT HEALTH! Bear had his teeth cleaned and his neuter done a week ago and did fine- lost two teeth and that's it! Recovered very quickly indeed.

Background: Bear came with 14 others from the CA pickup. He shows no signs of trauma or hardship: he's just ready to go to his new home and begin his life. He can't wait! Bear NEEDS another doggie friend, but not too big: another Chin or medium sized energetic dog would be fine. Bear also loves older kids, so if you've got a family like a little league team, Bear may be perfect for you!!!!

Temperament:  Bear is nearly 14 lbs of LOVE. Seriously, Bear loves to play, give kisses, cuddle, shake hands- he's wonderful. I imagine him with a busy family doing alot of playing and going to games and so on, or with a grown-up who wants to do agility: he'd make a great agility dog! He is reward driven and very smart!

Additional notes: Bear whines when he cant get to what he wants: he stops as soon as you distract him or if it's okay, let him have the thing he's after.

Just a delightful girl! A little leery of kids= will go into a crate or corner and grumble at them. She will tolerate them petting her.

Temperament:  One of the CA 15- May 04

Additional notes: No kids or older kids only for Molly. Molly likes to run and play so a fenced yard is a must. Molly fancies herself a watchdog and protects the house, couch, yard and whatnot. Farrah
adopted June 2004

Name: Farrah
Age: 7-8ish
Sex: spayed Female
Color and Size: 9-ish pounds, black/white
Date Received by JCCARE: One of the CA 15- May 04
Foster Home: Dana Baldinger
Contact email: superula@comcast.net
Foster Phone: please email first for Farrah
Foster Location: Renton, WA

Health: Farrah is in good health, but we wonder if she might be a little hard of hearing-she certainly CAN hear, but it's a little more obvious than the normal Chin selective hearing.

Background: One of the CA 15 as is Mabel. Farrah is so named for her lovely puffy hair. She isn't leash trained, does well on house-training though!

Temperament:  Farrah is mellow, a loner, not really a lap dog but does give kisses, calm around kids-doesn't enjoy them exactly but is calm. Basically, Farrah is probably still learning about being a loved friend, gaining confidence and trust. She may take some extra love.

Additional notes: Farrah wants a quiet life. A mellow home without a lot of action- we don't think she has had a lot of affection and hands-on living. She likes to give kisses, she loves to beg for food at dinnertime, Farrah will do well in a home with or without other pets- they really just don't seem to bother her one way or another. She will really just need attention and love to come out of her shell!

Temperament
:  Very shy, sweet, not a mean bone. Just takes time to make up to a person and then he's your friend for life

Additional notes:
Needs a quiet home with not a lot of activity. Buddha loves other dogs. He was never socialized so he interacts better with other dogs than people. He loves to be pet and given a good rub down and loves to give kisses. He is just basically a very shy boy that really does not trust humans until he gets to know them. He is totally housebroken, loves a backyard and will play for hours on end. A fenced back yard is mandatory if you wish to adopt Buddha.

Mabel
adopted July 2004

Name: Mabel
Age: 6ish years
Sex: spayed Female
Color and Size: sable/ 8 lbs
Date Received by JCCARE: May 14, 04. Mabel is one of the CA 15
Foster Home: Dana Baldinger
Contact email: superula@comcast.net
Foster Location: Renton, WA

Health: Good health! Mabel was spayed and did well there. She could do with a dental inside the next year but that's all. She's in very good health indeed! Mabel has just the one eye, but that makes no difference to her at all!
Background: Mabel came from the same place as Bear. She likes to play, but mostly she loves to cuddle and be loved on. She would be a great Chin for a couple with grown kids, or no kids. Mabel would do best where someone was home part time or more- she just loves to be with her people. I think that if she had another Chin pal she would be fine also in a full-time working home. She is just sweet and everyone who has met her has fallen in love with Mabel.
Temperament:  SWEET! Mabel loves to cuddle and kiss, and she especially loves sleeping on the pillows in bed with you! She DOES NOT like being woken up by other dogs (she will growl and fake-snap) but people are welcome to wake her up as long as she gets a kiss!!
Additional notes
: Her name has to stay MABEL. She smiles and wags her tail at you so happily when you say her name. Other than that, not a one. This is a lovely girl who will fill someone's life with laughter and love. Oh, and she grumbles to herself sometimes and woo-
woos like crazy! She goes some on a leash AND has learned the outside potty routine here already!

Pepe

Name: Pepe
Age: 4 years
Sex: Male
Color and Size: Red and White, 10.5 lbs
Date Received by JCCARE: 5/28/2004

Health: Health appears to be good. Still need to get him checked out by my Vet.

Background: An owner-turn-in from Wisconsin. His family took in a terminally ill relative and could no longer give adequate attention to this guy. And he does like his attention!

Temperament:  A lovely little boy. Follows us around everywhere. He is still getting used to the other dogs, but is doing good in that aspect. Is very curious about the cats. I think he would do good as an only pet or in a multiple pet household. A real little cuddle who likes to play with his people.

AZ Buddy
adopted August 2004

Name: Buddy
Age: 1 - 2 yrs.
Sex: Neutered Male
Color and Size: Black/White 13.8 lbs
Date Received by JCCARE: May 20, 2004
Foster Home: Zofia Luksic
Contact email: JapChinRescue@aol.com
Foster Phone: Emails first, please
Foster Location: Phoenix, AZ

Health: Excellent!

Background: Buddy and his pal Spike were surrendered to JCCARE by their owners. Apparently there were marking issues, but we've seen little of that with Buddy.

Temperament:  Buddy does great with adults and older kids. He may need to be any only doggie as he likes to protect his food and stuff. He is not good with cats. Buddy is very sweet, not hyper and likes to sleep at your feet. He appears to be doggie dog trained (tho we never promise!) and would do best in a home where he has access to one.

Spike
adopted August
2004

Name: Spike
Age:  2 yrs.
Sex: Neutered Male
Color and Size: Black/White 7 lbs
Date Received by JCCARE: June 20, 2004
Foster Home: Zofia Luksic
Foster Location: Phoenix, AZ

Health: Excellent!
Background
: Spike and his brother lived in a multi-dog home with several large dogs. They were scheduled to be euthanized due to their marking behavior. A neighbor alerted JCCARE and we were able to take them in.
Temperament:  Spike will need some time to settle in to his forever home. He will need patience, space, and time to adjust. Once he feels safe and comfortable, he's very sweet and wants non stop affection. When he first arrived here, he growled a lot and especially when picked up or petted. Within 2 days, he was asking for affection. He does occasionally growl when petted or picked up, but I think this is more of a "talking", or if he is comfy and doesn't want to be bothered. Otherwise, he loves to be held, carried around, snuggled. He follows me everywhere. He is a climber: he can apparently get anywhere he wants, and the higher the better. X-pens and gates are nothing to him. He does not like to be crated, but we are working on that for traveling purposes. Spike will no doubt mark in the house until he is comfortable in his new home. He will need to wear belly bands until he stops this behavior. He has almost stopped it at my house after 2 weeks. He is used to a doggie door and loves going in and out a lot. He gets along with other dogs if given time to get used to them. But he is mostly a "people" dog, and I think will do best in a home with only 1 or 2 other small dogs. I do not know about cats. He doesn't seem to know or understand toys yet. He does now like to run, play and wrestle with my 2 Chins. He is not food aggressive at all, but will try to steal the others' if he can get away with it. Sometimes if the play gets too rough or he feels overpowered by too many players, he will get aggressive and fight back. He gets very nervous when I leave and is very good at escaping out the door between legs, even when I'm being extra careful. He loves going for walks and knows what the leash if for.
Additional notes
: his forever family will have to be prepared to deal with indoor marking. And he can stand on his front legs and aim pretty high. He does sometimes growl when approached and has acted like he was trying to bite. But that was very early on, and then again when I had company and I think that scared him.

Health: Very good. She has been spayed and is up to date on vaccinations.

Background: This is one of the 16 chin rescued from a breeding facility. Because of her growling at people, I have keep her here at my house for fostering. It has just taken time for her to become comfortable in a house pet situation. She has never tried to bite anyone while she has been in my home. She is just a growly talker and likes to complain. Lily likes to know where you are all the time and loves to be petted. She has been carrying her favorite toy or chew around with her everywhere she goes and she does guard it.

Temperament:  A little shy at first and like to talk in growls.

Additional notes: Lily needs to go to a home that is going to be very patience with her and give her time to adjust. I think she will be a very loving companion for the right family/person.

Bailey
adopted September 2004

Name: Bailey
Age: 4 years
Sex: Male
Color and Size: black and white, 14 lbs
Date Received by JCCARE: June 11, 2004
Foster Home: Tracey Krepel
Contact email: tkrepel@niu.edu
Foster Phone: Please e-mail first
Foster Location: DeKalb, IL (Northern Illinois)
Health: Healthy; no known health problems.
Background: Bailey, and his littermate, Baxter, were tearfully released to JCCARE by their owner due to personal circumstances that prevented her from providing them the attention they need. They lived with three other Chins (who were all re-homed) and were well-loved and cared for.
Temperament:  Bailey is a laid-back fellow, and can be a little shy at times. He can get skittish if there is a lot of commotion or if he is unsure of his environment. Bailey also can be a bit aloof, but he does love people and is an affectionate, happy Chin. He loves to climb, and especially enjoys perching on the kitchen countertops (his foster mom is working on teaching him that this is a no-no). Bailey is pee-pad trained and enjoys daily walks. He would do best in a quiet environment where he can kick back and enjoy the company of his people.
Additional notes
: Bailey and Baxter MUST be adopted together. An out-of-state adoption will be considered, but local is preferred.

Temperament:  Baxter is the bounciest, silliest Japanese Chin his foster mom has ever met! This boy sure knows how to have a good time -- even if it means getting into a little bit of mischief! He is quite the opposite of his brother, Bailey, and the duo make a great pair! Baxter loves to cuddle with his people and has to be involved with whatever his foster parents are doing. Sammy's health appears to be quite good. At 19 pounds, he is several pounds overweight but his foster mom has him on a diet and it is working well.

Temperament
:
Sammy is a sweet, shy boy. Sammy loves love. He wants nothing more than to have someone to love and to love him back. Sammy does some protective barking but he has a very quiet bark so it is not a problem.

Foster Location:
Brookline, MA

Health: Totally healthy! Neutered. Microchipped. A perfect chin!

Background: Purchased at a pet store, Fuji was the companion of a woman struggling with MS. She purchased him to be her companion, but the disease unfortunately progressed very rapidly and she felt it wouldn't be long before Fuji was too much for her. She turned him into rescue still a puppy so he'd have no problem finding a new home. It is obvious that he was loved and well cared for given his lovely personality!

Temperament:  Fuji is FANTASTIC! He is smart as a whip, playful like a six month old, full of energy, absolutely affectionate and a snuggle bunny. He is hysterical to watch play and he loves his toys! Fuji will snuggle right on your lap or fall asleep right next to your side at night. He is housebroken, sits when asked and loves to go on walks on his leash. He is VERY social.

Additional notes: Fuji is still a puppy so he is very high energy and playful. He needs a home with preferably another dog to play with or a home with a stay at home person.  He would be wonderful with school aged children.

Clara

adopted December 2004

Name: Clara
Age:
7.5-8.5 years
Sex:
spayed female
Color and Size:
tri, 9.8 lbs
Date Received by JCCARE:
5/ 2004
Foster Home:
Dana Baldinger
Contact email:
superula@comcast.net
Contact Phone:
please have app on file and email first
Foster Location:
Renton WA

Health: Excellent health. Clara was just re-checked again last week and another great job. Heart is good, lungs clear, eyes clear. She has wobbly back legs due in part to bad breeding and in large part to atrophy of her muscles. Getting out on a short walk or run around the garden daily will go along way in strengthening her right up!
Background:
Yet another of the Tehachapi Chin. Clara has shown good housetraining instincts and tolerates other dogs well. I think she would love the chance to be a part of a small family of other calm dogs, with lots of attention from her people.
Temperament:
Lovely. Clara likes to be petted and give kisses, but she is shy. She enjoys having a space of her own (she likes an open crate by my bed) but does seek out one on one attention. I feel that the longer she is living in a home situation the more she will blossom.

Additional notes: Clara does like a space to be alone sometimes. She likes quiet and therefore please NO children under teens. She does the ducking thing sometimes if you come up on her when she's off guard. She really will flourish in a quiet home with a lot of love. Plus- would ya LOOK AT THAT FACE?! It'll melt the coldest of hearts. Never having seen a 'clown face' tri before, I'm smitten!
