Sammy
adopted December 2003

Sammy is a quiet, sweet 6-year old male that loves to be with people. When he came to live with us, he seemed withdrawn and distressed. Sammy was initially aggressive toward the other dogs and was especially food aggressive. He was also trimmed very short and somewhat underweight. After a little TLC, his fur is coming in nicely. After regular, healthy meals he has gained weight and the food aggression is no longer a problem. However, he is still very fearful of larger dogs and because of his unpredictable past behavior, he should not be in a home with young children. Sammy likes to ride in the car and walks well on a leash. He loves to cuddle with us and plays nicely with the other Chin in my house. He has also been around cats with no problem. Sammy is currently living in Corpus Christi, Texas. If you are interested in Sammy, please submit an application and then contact me at chinhouse8002@msn.com.

Lulu Belle
adopted December 2003

Lulu Belle is a darling girl who somehow ended up in a local shelter. Lulu is approx. 4 yrs. old, 13 lbs. and has the longest legs I've ever seen on a Chin! She loves to be held, cuddled, gives great kisses and I have yet to hear her bark. Lulu would be fine with children. Big doggies?? Lulu loves 'em to play with, but not share her food! Lulu's coat, or more precisely lack of, is most likely a result of flea & food allergies, neglect and bad nutrition. Love, time and a good diet should heal all although, like many Chin redheads, she will probably never have a full, long coat. Lulu will make some family a great pet! She is presently being fostered in Southern CA, but we will consider transport for the right home. If interested in a rescued Japanese Chin, please complete an on-line application. Inquires to japchinrescue@aol.com will be answered ONLY if an application has been submitted. In the comments section at the end of the application, please indicate by name which Japanese Chin you are interested in.

Gino
Adopted September 2003

Gino is fifteen pounds, a teddy bear who likes to talk, barks at the cats and LOVES to be outside.  Gino is approximately seven years old.  We don't know how he ended up in the shelter we rescued him from, he seems to love everyone.  Contact Sylvia Baker at QueenSyl@aol.com for more details.

Gizmo
Adopted September 2003

Gizmo is a delightful 1 1/2 to 2 year old male currently being fostered in North Texas. He is neutered and weighs a healthy 8 pounds. He was surrendered by his owner to a local shelter for unspecified reasons. Gizmo has no bad habits to speak of. He did have a habit of marking his territory but that has subsided now that he has been altered. He is housebroken. He gets along well with kids and other pets, walks on a leash and likes to go for rides in the car. Gizmo had an eye injury that has left one eye slightly clouded but he does have vision in that eye. Gizmo loves kids but he is a little guy so he needs gentle handling. A fenced yard is a must as Gizmo likes to wander. Please contact Teri Fritts teri@dogdecor.com for more information. (p.s. his eyes aren't really green, it's just a bad picture)

Lucky
Adopted October 2003

"Lucky" ...is adorable! No problems with this little guy! He came from a good home where he was loved and well-cared for, neutered and is up-to-date on all vaccinations. He is approx 7 years old, 8 lbs. and according to a very recent vet exam he is in good health with a nice steady heart beat and seems much younger than his actual age. His owners reluctantly brought him to the shelter last week because their 3-yr-old would tug at his ears causing him to yelp and apparently he nipped at her, so no kids. He has always been the perfect little family dog but they felt they had no choice but to give him up. Lucky is sweet, affectionate, and loves to be held. He is house-broken, comfortable with his leash and loves to ride in the car. He has no "hang-ups" or history of abuse, gets along well with other dogs and would be the perfect little lap dog/companion for some very lucky family. Lucky is currently being fostered in Southern California. If interested in Lucky, please complete an on-line application. Inquires to japchinrescue@aol.com will be responded to ONLY if an application has been submitted. In the comments section at the end of the application, please reference an interest in Lucky.

Buster
Adopted September 2003

Buster was born in Oct 2001 he is a sable and white Chin and weighs 12 and a half pounds (but he could use another pound!).  He is very sweet, needs a full time family.  He has been good with the kids and curious about the cats. Buster loves to play ball.   Housebreaking is not too big of an issue as long as you walk him (The back yard is for playing - not potty! lol)  His owner turned him in because he was always getting in trouble which seems to be the result of loneliness (his family was away most of the day).  He likes to cuddle and plays well with the other Chin here.  He would love a family that will love him forever, he has been shuffled at least twice in his short life and I think he will thrive in a secure forever home.  Buster is with Sylvia Baker at QueenSyl@aol.com

Spike
Adopted October 2003

Spike is about 2 or 3 years old. He was found as a stray in Ft Worth. JCCARE pulled him and he has since undergone heartworm treatment. His final heartworm test is scheduled for October, but so far so good! Otherwise, he is a very healthy boy who loves attention and will lean against you for more love. Spike is a large chin weighing around 14 lbs. He's about 90% housebroken (occasional accidents when left in the house for long periods of time) and gets along great with kids over 10, small dogs and cats. He does not do well around large dogs. He is currently located in the Dallas, TX area. Contact Ronda at rintinchin@sbcglobal.net for more information.

Baxter
adopted October 2003

Meet Baxter!  Baxter is a 2-3 year old tri-colored male chin.  He is a little food aggressive but seems to do well to be fed with a bowl of his own in a corner of his own.   He gets along well with other dogs and is quite intrigued by the cats.  Baxter has severe luxating patellas that will hopefully be corrected with surgery in the next few weeks, however, we may always need some TLC for them and will not be good with an extremely active family.  He is housetrained.  Baxter would prefer a home with no children.  I am currently fostering Baxter in Atlanta.  Please contact me at amandahamptonnorton@hotmail.com for more info.

Charlotte
Adopted October 2003

Charlotte is a beautiful 4 year-old sable Japanese Chin. She came from a loving family who regretfully turned her over to JCCARE due to changes in their work schedules and living situation that prevented them from giving her the proper amount of attention she deserves. This little princess is very outgoing, playful, and loves to be around her people. Like most princess Chins, she can be a bit demanding and stubborn, but that's what makes her so endearing. Charlotte is great with older children, fine with other dogs, and is still curious about cats, but will not harm them. She is current on her vaccinations and is spayed. Charlotte will make an ideal companion for any family seeking the love and joy of a Japanese Chin. Charlotte is being fostered by Tracey Krepel in Northern Illinois. For more information, e-mail tkrepel@niu.edu or call (815) 757-4804.

Hiiro
adopted November 2003

Hiiro is about 6 years old, 9 pounds, and in perfect health. He is neutered and current on vaccinations. He had a very difficult first 2 years of life and thus has fear and confusion issues. Hiiro needs a special home with lots of love, affection, and patience to let him learn to trust and adapt. He needs someone who is home a lot. He loves to snuggle and give kisses once you earn his trust. No small children. He is not leash trained It is vital he get a quiet, stable home that is his forever. Hiiro is a very sweet, affectionate boy that needs reassurance and routine. He has lived in harmony with a mild mannered dog and cat. But he would not do well in a multi-pet household. He will need some time to adapt to his new surroundings and learn to trust. He has a lot of love to give and only asks for unconditional love in return. Hiiro is being fostered by Karen in Chandler, AZ. Please email azchinmom1@qwest.net for more information.

Stitch
adopted November 2003

Stitch is a 2 year old black and white male chin. Stitch has had a rough time of it lately but is doing remarkably well. When Stitch was rescued this past July, he had just lost his eye, was neutered and was malnourished and missing some of his hair. He has since also had an umbilical hernia repair. But all his stitches are gone, his hair is growing in and he is gaining weight. Stitch is still very timid but does well with kids and other dogs and cats. He is very sweet and loves to be by your side or on your lap cuddling. We're still working on housebreaking and he's doing well. Stitch is living with his foster family in Minnesota. You may contact Erin at weppner@msn.com for more information on adopting Stitch.

Valentine
adopted November 2003

Valentine is a sweet, 9 year old, puppy mill rescue. She is ready to go home!!
Valentine weighs about 8 pounds, is black and white, and loves dogs and humans! She has not been around cats, although I suspect she would be fine with them. Valentine's little tail wags constantly, and her only desire in this world is to be where you are - in your lap, or running in the yard with you, or just sitting together on the couch. Even though she is 9 years old, Valentine acts much like a puppy - probably because she lost her puppy years living in a breeding kennel in the Midwest. Valentine is being fostered in Atlanta, GA. She is an absolute love! Contact Toni at  Cavrescue@aol.com for more information.

Ozzie
adopted December 2003
Ozzie is being fostered in So. California. OZZIE is an approx. 6/7 yr. old, b/w neutered male weighing approx. 11.5 lbs, with a very fine, soft coat. His coat is a bit uneven as Oz had a number of mats when he came from the shelter which had to be cut out. He is very sweet natured and quiet. He would be okay with children over 10 and other animals, including cats. Oz seems to be fairly independent, but will snuggle you during the night. Ozzie is in good health except he has the beginnings of cataracts. He will also need a dental in the near future, but it is not urgent. New note on Oz.....he either has the most selective hearing I've ever run across or he is deaf. Sometimes he responds, sometimes not....typical Chin so it is hard to determine. Please, NO INQUIRIES unless an application has been completed. You may contact Zofia at japchinrescue@aol.com for more information on adopting Ozzie.
