Happy Boy
Baker's Story
Thru the efforts of Theresa Leatherwood, I adopted HAPPY BOY
who lived in a cage all his life, at 8.5 years of age. He
got the name "HAPPY BOY" as he was the happiest little guy,
the minute he came to live with me ! He was sweet and
friendly and you would never know that he had been so
neglected in his life, to see him the way he was with LULU
and Gizmo...
He had terrible ear canals, almost closed completely, from
untreated ear infections. My vet in CA cleaned them for me,
FREE OF CHARGE, every 2 weeks... to make sure they stayed
free from debris or got infected again... He had a bad
heart, which, was caused by these untreated infections.
He also got big boils, the size of cherries, in between his
toes... they traveled, one on the front paw, got it lanced,
cleared up and a few weeks later, it showed up again , on
another paw... my vet felt that he got these terribly deep
rooted staff infection ( we had it cultured ) from living on
WIRES.... like rabbits do, in a cage...
Anyway, we had him for only 18 months, until his little heart
gave out. I know that these 18 months were the best of his
life ... Happy Boy was as happy as anyone could ever
possibly be. He went everywhere with me, he played with LULU
daily, he went for walks every day, and from good food and
nutrition, he grew a long, beautiful coat that dragged on
the ground !! My deep regret is that we didn't get to have
him for any longer.....
He loved to go camping and hang out, he loved to go out in
our RV and sit on the seat and wait for us to load up, he
LOVED the beach...
He was a delightful little guy...
I loved him sooo and still miss him. He died on March 1,
2000, and even though he has been gone from this earth. he
is always in my heart and in my minds eye. |
