Ali and Emi are not a story of a hard life and bad health because no one cared about them, instead they are a story of love. Ali and Emi are sisters from the same litter who have always been together. Their owner loved them very much and took good care of them. When life changed for their owner, there was no choice but to move and "the ladies" could not go.

Ali and Emi had a good owner, she contacted JCCare and put her companions up for adoption. Although it would be hard for her, she knew that JCCare would screen applicants and would find a loving home for her friends.

I had been researChing the breed, and decided that a Japanese Chin would fit in our household. The first step was the application, and then the home check (would we be good enough?) and finally the go ahead to find the right dog!

When Ali and Emi became available we considered whether they were the dogs for us. We knew it would be harder to place two older dogs together. We knew we had enough room, and enough love, to share with two dogs. But how would they feel about living in a family with cats and kids and another dog? After consulting everyone involved Ali and Emi had a new home!

The toughest part of this rescue was transporting the dogs from their home in Texas to their new home in Pennsylvania. Right on cue, someone from another rescue group offered to add our dogs to the transport of her own. I still get a chuckle when I think of tiny Chin being transported by St. Bernard Rescue. (Thank you again!) After a long journey "the ladies" arrived home safely and have slowly settled in. They had no problem with cats, kids or another dog. In fact, the cats were scared of them.

Happily, these dogs have known nothing but love in their lives and will finish out their lives in a home that loves them very much. Yes, we could have bought a puppy or adopted a younger dog, but then we would have missed watChing the personalities of Ali and Emi unfold.

We are very grateful that JCCare has allowed Ali and Emi to enrich our lives.
