Jiminy

Jiminy’s Story
by Amy Rosenberg

Upon moving to LA, Cleo (my sable and white Japanese Chin) and I realized we had a lot of changes to face. We were used to living in Palm Desert with my sister and her Peke-a-Poo and our big backyard. Now we were in an apartment in a big city with no yard to speak of. Needless to say, we had to adjust fast! Talking four daily walks had greatly helped to give Cleo the fresh air she so loves, but she was devastated without a companion. I had researched JCCARE and decided it might be a better option for me to rescue a doggie than buy from a breeder.

Next thing I know, Dana, Zofia and I were putting our heads together trying to convince Donna, the head of a dog rescue in Montana, to allow me to be the first out-of-state adoption of an adorable, almost all-black Japanese Chin. He was the tallest Chin Dana had ever seen! After jumping through all of the required (and necessary) hoops, Cleo had a new brother. Jiminy, known at the time as Ziggy, is about 2 years old and has one of the best personalities I have ever encountered. He is sweet, loyal, fun, spunky and loving. We really lucked out. For months I tried to figure out why someone would have given him up (he was an owner turn-in) and the only thing it could have been is he sheds black hair everywhere. Maybe the owner couldn’t handle it… I just brush him everyday and that takes care of most of it. He is soooo worth it! I renamed him Jiminy (because he can jump so high and far!) to give him a new name for his new life and he responded to it right away. Cleo and he are the best of friends and we couldn’t be happier. Thanks JCCARE!
